This privacy policy explains the nature, scope and purpose of the collection and use of personal data by the "Tokyo Powder Mixer" app and this website.

2. Core principle: local-first & data minimization

Tokyo Powder Mixer follows a strict local-first architecture. Your selected conditions, calculated blends and saved presets are stored exclusively on your device — on iOS and on Android. We do not store your app data on any server and never have access to it. Mixes only leave your device when you yourself share or export them.

Legal basis: performance of contract / provision of the app's functionality (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

3. Location & weather lookup

Weather is fetched only when you tap "Load weather" in the app. Only then does the app request your approximate device location (with your permission) and send it to our own weather service, which relays it to the weather provider OpenWeatherMap to fetch current weather data. This way, no API key and no direct connection to OpenWeatherMap is needed on your device. Coordinates are rounded to a grid of roughly 1 km so that identical requests can be answered from a cache. Your IP address is processed only transiently to protect the service against abuse (rate limiting, as a hash, in one-minute buckets) and is not stored beyond that. No further personal data (e.g. name, device identifier, account) is transmitted. Processing by OpenWeatherMap is governed by their own privacy policy. If the service is unavailable, the app shows the last known reading.

Legal basis: your consent, granted via your device's system permission dialog (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Withdrawal: revoke the location permission at any time in your device settings (iOS or Android); you can alternatively enter conditions manually.

4. No processors, no tracking

Other than the weather lookup described in Section 3 (our own weather service and OpenWeatherMap as its data source), we use no further data processors to operate Tokyo Powder Mixer. There are no analytics, tracking or advertising services, and no crash reporting to third parties.

5. Retention & deletion

Since your app data lives exclusively on your device, you determine the retention period yourself. Delete individual saved mixes directly in the app; removing the app deletes all locally stored data.

6. Security

Local data storage is subject to the device encryption of iOS and Android. The weather lookup is transmitted exclusively over encrypted HTTPS. This website is likewise served only over HTTPS.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)
  • Right to withdraw consent with future effect (Art. 7(3) GDPR)

8. This website: cookies & local storage

This website uses no tracking, marketing or analytics cookies and embeds no third-party services for audience measurement. For your language preference (EN/DE/JA) we store a single technical entry in your browser's local storage (localStorage). This is functionally necessary for operation, contains no personal data and is never transmitted to us. You can reset it at any time via your browser settings or the notice banner at the bottom of the page.
